Mature Garden
At Barazani you will be surrounded by greenery to relax your eyes from the dusty streets of the town. Our garden carefully cultivated includes typical local flora such as migomba (banana trees), kahawa (coffee plants), palm trees and a potager garden including local herbs which the guests can use as ingredients in their cooking. Our garden attracts large amounts of exotic birds.
Two large verandas
Our name derives from the swahili word baraza or veranda – a perfect place to unwind after a busy day. Our property features two large verandas ensuring that all guests have space and privacy to enjoy a sundowner drink, have a chat about the day’s events or to read a book.
BBQ Facilities
Grilled meat (nyama choma) is a food phenomenon throughout East Africa. In the Kilimanajaro region a roasted goat (ndafu) is served at weddings and various social occasions. Grilling ndafu is an art and can give rise to “heated” arguments. At Barazani, we wanted to ensure that our guests get to enjoy the convivial BBQ experience. For the novices our Weber grill is easy to use while delivering succulent results. For those who want to know more our staff can advise and organise a more traditional nyama choma experience.
Shared kitchen
All our guests, irrespective of the room option chosen, can benefit free of charge of the shared kitchen facilities. Whether you want to try your hand at some of the swahili dishes or just long for some food from home, our kitchen comprises a large fridge/freezer, a large cooking stove, microwave oven, kettle and all kitchenware and utensils which you may need and basic ingredients such as salt, pepper, cooking oil. Alternatively you may wish to avail of the services of our on-site cook, who will everyday cook different local dishes. Extra charge applies.
Shared Dining & TV Lounge
Shared dining and TV lounge available to all our guests at no additional charge. TV subsription includes international and local channels. Dining/TV lounge opening directly onto the back through large french windows.
Two gates and multiple entrance points
The layout of the property is designed with our guests’ privacy and convenience in mind. The property features two main gates opening onto our free parking areas so as to avoid congestion. Aside from the main gate several rooms include private entrance so as to minimise foot traffic and disturbance to other guests. With en-suite bathrooms in every room different sections of the house are essentially autonomous. Security of all access point is provided by our on-site 24 hours security guard.
